Guava wins the category, not the protein-food contest

That does not make the protein irrelevant. Small contributions accumulate across a day, especially in diets built from many plant foods. Fruit can also make a protein-rich meal easier to eat and more nutritionally varied. Greek yogurt with guava, cottage cheese with berries, oats with kiwi and nuts, or a tofu smoothie with fruit all pair fruit’s micronutrients and fiber with a food that supplies a larger protein dose. The result is more useful than trying to obtain most of the meal’s protein from fruit alone.

Numbers can vary with variety, ripeness and database entry as well. Tropical fruits are sometimes listed in several cultivars, canned fruit may be packed in syrup or juice, and dried fruit becomes concentrated because water has been removed. For comparisons, use the same form of food and similar serving logic. If your goal is simply to choose a fruit that contributes a little more protein, guava, passion fruit, avocado and several berries can be useful options depending on the database and serving. If your goal is to reach a meaningful protein target, start with a true protein-rich food and let fruit play its complementary role.

Another useful distinction is protein quality. Fruit does not generally provide the same amino-acid density as foods chosen primarily for protein. That is not a problem when the overall diet is varied, but it is another reason not to build a meal around fruit protein alone.
