Those categories should not be collapsed into one generic “pasta vs rice” answer. If fiber is the goal, compare whole-grain versions; if gluten must be avoided, ordinary wheat pasta is unsuitable while plain rice is naturally gluten-free, although cross-contact and flavored products still need label checks. The right comparison changes with the question being asked.
